A couple of nights ago, my husband did my progesteron in oil (PIO) shot and it hurt like MAD. Excrutiating. I know that a part of it is psychological, but it was really painful.
Now, my butt is pretty sore from all of the shots over the past 3 weeks or so. That part, oddly, doesn’t really bother me. Sure, it feels a tiny bit itchy now and then at the injection sites, and I feel the lumps, and I feel the soreness sometimes when I’m trying to get comfortable before sleeping, but all in all, it doesn’t bother me.
If heard that icing the site helps, but somehow, I’ve forgotten to do this. But last night, I realized that we can draw up the PIO shot with an 18g needle, and then do the actual injection with a 22.5g needle. This made a HUGE difference! I was so pleased.
Then I read that there is a cream that you can rub on the injection site which numbs the area before your injection. GREAT! I got some today from my nurse. I will definitely report how it goes.
So before last night, I was getting injections with an 18g needle, no ice, no heating pad, no cream. I didn’t realize how much harder I was making it for myself. Hopefully the cream will work well.
As for symptoms, nothing much new:
- Tired
- Face is flushed
- Twinges in the lower abdomen
- Fleeting feelings of nausea which last a few seconds
